The Memphis PRX1500.1V2 is a mono subwoofer amplifier designed to provide dedicated power for a car audio bass system. It delivers a single amplified channel, making it a practical choice for one subwoofer or a properly wired multi-subwoofer setup. Its 1-ohm stable design supports system builders seeking high output from a compact amplifier chassis.

Rated at 500 watts RMS at 4 ohms, 1,000 watts RMS at 2 ohms, and 1,500 watts RMS at 1 ohm, the PRX1500.1V2 gives installers several power-matching options. This flexibility helps pair the amplifier with subwoofers based on their final wired impedance and continuous power handling. The amplifier is intended for low-frequency reproduction rather than full-range speaker duty.

For tuning, the amplifier uses a fully variable low-pass crossover with an 18 dB-per-octave Butterworth slope. A variable subsonic filter and adjustable bass/EQ boost allow the system to be tailored to the subwoofer enclosure and listening goals. These controls make it easier to limit unwanted high-frequency content and manage ultra-low-frequency output.

The Power Reference V2 platform uses an extruded aluminum heatsink to support thermal management in a compact footprint. A blue LED-accented top cover, blue ground lighting, and concealed top-mounted controls give the amplifier a clean installed appearance. The control panel can be accessed by removing the top panel.

The PRX1500.1V2 fits well in a dedicated subwoofer upgrade where a factory or aftermarket source unit needs more low-frequency capability. It accepts high-level speaker input for integration with systems that do not provide low-level outputs, while its low-level output can feed an additional amplifier. Signal-sensing auto turn-on and selectable turn-on options add installation flexibility.

Key Features

  • 1-Ohm Stable Mono Design: Supports a minimum 1-ohm subwoofer load.
  • 1,500W RMS Output: Delivers rated power at 1 ohm.
  • Variable Low-Pass Filter: Adjusts bass crossover from 50 to 250 Hz.
  • Subsonic Filter: Helps manage frequencies below the selected point.
  • High-Level Inputs: Supports connection to factory speaker-level signals.
  • Protection Circuitry: Guards against overload, short circuit, thermal, and reverse-polarity conditions.

Design & Installation

The amplifier uses an extruded aluminum heatsink, platinum-plated connectors, and a compact 10.92 x 5.7 x 2.16-inch chassis. Its blue LED top cover and undermount ground lighting complement custom installations. Top-mounted controls remain concealed beneath the removable panel for a more finished appearance.

Memphis recommends its 4GKIT amplifier kit for the PRX1500.1V2. Mount the amplifier in a ventilated location with the heatsink fins facing upward rather than down, and verify the final speaker load with a multimeter before connection. Use a 1-ohm-or-higher final load, connect power directly to the battery through an appropriately located fuse, and use the same wire size for power and ground connections.
