The Crunch DR-2725.1D is a compact mono Class D amplifier designed to power a dedicated subwoofer system in a vehicle. It provides a single-channel platform for adding bass without requiring a large multi-channel amplifier. With output ratings at 2- and 4-ohm loads, it is suited to systems built around compatible subwoofer wiring.

This amplifier is intended for listeners who want dedicated low-frequency reinforcement while retaining adjustment over how the subwoofer integrates with the rest of the audio system. Its variable low-pass crossover, subsonic filter, and bass control help tailor the bass range to the enclosure, subwoofer, and front speakers. A wired bass remote provides convenient level adjustment from the cabin.

The DR-2725.1D uses Class D topology and a pulse-width-modulated power supply for an efficient, space-conscious bass amplifier design. Crunch also specifies proprietary SPEED-FET MOSFET output components and a low-noise preamplifier circuit. These elements are paired with RCA signal inputs and adjustable input sensitivity for connection to a compatible source unit.

Thermal management is addressed with Crunch Quick Thermal Dispersion technology and an aluminum heat sink. The amplifier also includes LED protection diagnostics for overload and speaker-short monitoring. Its selectable logo illumination can be set to VU-meter operation, constant red, or off.

At just over eight inches long, the DR-2725.1D can fit into many amplifier mounting locations when ventilation and secure mounting are planned correctly. It is a mono-only amplifier, making it a focused choice for a subwoofer channel rather than full-range speakers. Pair it with a properly wired 2- or 4-ohm subwoofer load, suitable power wiring, and an externally fused battery connection.

Key Features

  • Mono Class D Design: Delivers dedicated amplification for a subwoofer channel in a compact chassis.
  • 2-Ohm Stable Output: Supports compatible 2-ohm and 4-ohm subwoofer configurations.
  • Variable Low-Pass Filter: Adjusts the subwoofer cutoff from 40Hz to 300Hz.
  • Subsonic Filter: Provides adjustable filtering from 10Hz to 40Hz.
  • Wired Bass Remote: Lets you adjust bass level from the driver area.
  • QTD Aluminum Heat Sink: Helps manage heat during normal operation.

Design & Installation

The DR-2725.1D has a black V-DRIVE-series chassis with an aluminum QTD heat sink, nickel-plated brass terminals, screw-down connections, and an LED logo display. The front lighting offers VU-meter, constant-red, and off modes. An end-panel LED VU meter and protection indicators provide visual status during setup and use.

Mount the amplifier securely on a surface with adequate airflow and do not install it upside down. Use 4 AWG cable at the +12V and ground terminals, 8 GA speaker wire at the speaker terminals, and an external 100A fuse placed near the battery connection. Connect a compatible RCA source signal, set gain carefully, and match the final subwoofer load to the amplifier's 2-ohm minimum operating impedance.
