The Rockford Fosgate MX-CAM-X317 is a vehicle-specific camera installation kit for select 2017 and newer Can-Am Maverick X3 models. It provides the mounting hardware, harnessing, switch, and connections needed to add the separately sold Rockford Fosgate MX-CAM motorsports camera. The kit is intended to create a clean reverse-view camera installation without adapting a universal harness or fabricating a mount.

This kit is suited to Maverick X3 owners building or expanding a compatible Rockford Fosgate motorsports audio system. Its T-harness connects at the vehicle taillight to supply camera power, while the included harness routes video and trigger connections to the source unit. A vehicle-specific approach helps reduce the amount of custom wiring required for the installation.

Because the MX-CAM-X317 is an installation accessory rather than an audio component, it has no sound signature or power rating. Its practical performance is centered on dependable camera integration, reverse-trigger operation, and convenient manual camera access. The included panel-mount rocker switch provides a dedicated way to call up the camera view when used with a compatible display source.

The kit uses a Can-Am X3-specific bracket that attaches at factory mounting points and accepts the MX-CAM with a snap-in fit. Its main harness provides a composite-video connection through a standard male RCA connector. An additional remote trigger supports automatic camera activation in reverse with compatible Rockford Fosgate PMX source units.

MX-CAM-X317 is designed around Rockford Fosgate PMX-3 and PMX-8DH source-unit applications, and its composite-video output can also connect to another source unit with a video input. It is a useful addition for compatible Stage-5 and Stage-6 Can-Am X3 system builds. The MX-CAM camera itself is required and is sold separately.

Design & Installation

The kit combines a steel Can-Am X3 license-plate bracket, vehicle-specific tail-light T-harness, main wire harness, Carling-style rocker switch, and camera-mount hardware. The bracket is designed to secure at factory attachment points and allow the matching MX-CAM camera to snap into place. The rocker switch uses a blue backlit rear-camera logo and a red backlit camera icon for status indication.

Install the bracket and separately sold MX-CAM camera at the intended rear location, then connect the supplied T-harness at the X3 taillight and route the main harness to the source unit. Connect the male RCA to a source unit video input and use the included trigger connection with compatible PMX-3 or PMX-8DH systems for reverse-camera activation.
