HERTZ DCX100-3

The Hertz DCX100-3 is a 4-inch, 2-way coaxial speaker designed for vehicle locations where compact factory-size speakers are needed. It combines a woofer and tweeter in one assembly to simplify a full-range speaker upgrade. Its 4-ohm impedance makes it appropriate for many standard car-audio speaker circuits.

This model is intended for listeners replacing worn or limited factory speakers in dashboards, doors, rear panels, or other locations designed for 100 mm drivers. With 30 watts RMS and 60 watts peak power handling, it can work with a compatible factory radio or a modestly powered aftermarket amplifier. Proper power matching and a secure mounting surface help it perform as intended.

The DCX100-3 uses a water-repellent pressed-paper woofer cone and a TPU surround. This combination is designed to support controlled cone movement while providing added resistance to everyday moisture exposure. A PEI dome tweeter handles upper-frequency reproduction in the coaxial layout.

Its woofer uses a high-density flux ferrite magnet, while the tweeter uses a neodymium magnet. The speaker also incorporates an integrated crossover for the coaxial driver arrangement. A 25 mm pure-copper voice coil on a Conex former is part of the woofer motor design.

The DCX100-3 can be used as a direct replacement where a 4-inch speaker is specified, subject to vehicle-specific clearance and mounting-hole verification. Its 70 Hz to 21 kHz frequency response suits it for full-range duties, though very low bass is better supported by larger speakers or a dedicated subwoofer. Optional Hertz DG 100.3 grilles are available separately for installations that require exposed-speaker protection.

Design & Installation

The DCX100-3 uses a high-density flux ferrite woofer magnet, a neodymium tweeter magnet, and a water-repellent pressed-paper cone with a TPU surround. Its basket is protected by abrasion-resistant dust paint, while tin-plated high-current terminals support durable electrical connections. Silver-plated lead wires, a butyl-rubber protective cover, epoxy basket-to-motor bonding, and low-carbon-content plates are incorporated into the speaker design.

Confirm the available mounting space before installation, including the manufacturer's 99 mm overall dimension, 94 mm mounting dimension, 50 mm depth, and 43 mm front-protrusion dimension. Use correct speaker polarity and connect the speakers to a compatible 4-ohm source or amplifier that is appropriately power matched. The optional DG 100.3 grille may be useful when the speaker will be mounted in an exposed location.
