VOXX CRIMESTOPPER PARKPMCU Front/Rear Parking Assist System

The CrimeStopper PARKPMCU is a universal parking-assist system that adds proximity warnings to either the front or rear of a vehicle. Its four ultrasonic sensors monitor the area near the bumper and provide an audible alert as the vehicle approaches an object. It is designed for cars, trucks, and SUVs with plastic or metal bumpers.

This system is suited to drivers who want added awareness while parking, maneuvering in tight spaces, or approaching obstacles at low speed. The PARKPMCU can be configured as a front or rear system through a jumper setting. Front operation is brake-activated, while rear operation activates when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

Its warning character is based on audible alerts that repeat faster as an object gets closer, progressing to a continuous tone at close range. The included audible alert has adjustable volume, with low, medium, and high settings. A selectable high- or low-frequency tone can also help distinguish front and rear parking alerts in vehicles using more than one system.

The PARKPMCU uses intelligent detection and learning functions to account for vehicle-mounted equipment such as a spare tire, hitch, tow bar, push bar, or bike rack. This helps the system avoid warning about a fixed object attached to the vehicle. A self-test checks connected sensors whenever the system powers on.

For a more complete parking-safety upgrade, the PARKPMCU can be paired with an optional CrimeStopper PARK-PLED1 or PARK-PLED2 visual display. The kit includes four paintable sensors, a paint tray, an audible alert, and a hole saw. Its long sensor-extension wiring supports installation in larger vehicles where routing distance is a consideration.

Design & Installation

The PARKPMCU uses compact, paintable ultrasonic sensors intended for installation in either plastic or metal bumpers. Sensor-only weather protection is rated IP68, and the system is specified for operation from -40°F to 176°F. Silicone rings support sensor-angle adjustment, while the included paint tray assists with color matching before installation.

Install the sensors evenly across the selected bumper on the flattest practical surfaces, at a mounting height of 0.45 to 0.6 m (1.5 to 2 ft.) from the ground. The included hole saw requires an 18.8 mm opening; verify clearance behind the bumper before drilling. For a two-sensor installation, connect sensors only to ports A and D or ports B and C, then set the front/rear, mounting-height, and applicable warning-range jumpers.
