JBL JAM3000 Gauge-Mount Marine Media Receiver

The JBL JAM3000 is a gauge-mount marine media receiver for bringing AM/FM radio, Bluetooth streaming, and USB music playback to a boat audio system. Its compact control panel centers on a 2.8-inch monochrome LCD and physical controls for source selection, tuning, playback, and system adjustments. It is intended for marine installations where a weather-rated audio source is needed without adding a large in-dash receiver.

A built-in four-channel amplifier provides 15 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms, making the JAM3000 suited to powering compatible marine speakers directly. JBL specifies a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 75 dB. Balance, fader, bass, treble, loudness, equalizer, and subwoofer-level controls provide practical system tuning.

Bluetooth 5.3 supports wireless music streaming from compatible devices, with A2DP, AVRCP, and SPP profiles listed in the owner’s manual. The receiver can store up to five paired phones and automatically reconnect to the most recently paired phone. USB playback supports WAV, MP3, M4A, and WMA files, with a maximum of 9,999 files on a connected USB device.

For radio listening, the JAM3000 includes an AM/FM tuner with selectable USA, Europe, Japan, and Australia frequency regions. It stores 18 station presets and offers manual tuning, automatic seeking, preset scanning, and automatic preset storage. The front display brightness is adjustable to help tailor visibility at the helm.

The JAM3000 can serve as the core of a basic four-speaker marine system or as a source unit for a larger amplified system. It provides speaker-level outputs for direct speaker connection plus a 3-channel, 2-volt pre-out for external amplification. Front- and rear-mounting options allow installers to adapt the receiver to the available console or panel layout.

Design & Installation

The JAM3000 uses a compact gauge-style format with a 2.8-inch monochrome LCD, rotary selector/volume control, and six front-panel buttons. Its marine-focused design carries an IP66 rating, and the supplied foam gasket and foam strip gaskets support sealing at the mounting surface. JBL also includes a mounting bracket and the associated mounting hardware for front or rear installation.

Connect the supplied accessory harness to the receiver and vessel wiring, disconnecting the negative battery terminal before installation as directed by JBL. The unit operates from 9 to 16 volts, uses a 10-amp fuse, and provides both speaker-level and RCA-level connections. It is a practical choice for direct connection to compatible 4-ohm speakers, while the 3-channel pre-out can feed external amplification and a subwoofer system.
