The Hertz MPBX300S2-1 is a loaded 12-inch ultra-shallow sealed subwoofer enclosure designed for vehicle audio systems with limited installation depth. It combines a shallow MPS 300 S2 subwoofer with a purpose-built enclosure, eliminating the need to design and build a separate box. Its compact height makes it a practical option for locations such as under or behind seating where a conventional deep enclosure may not fit.

This passive enclosure is intended for listeners who want meaningful low-frequency output while preserving usable cargo or cabin space. It presents a 2-ohm nominal load and handles 500 watts continuous power, so it should be paired with an amplifier that is stable at 2 ohms and appropriately power-matched. The sealed-box design is engineered for controlled bass response rather than requiring a large ported enclosure.

The MPBX300S2-1 uses Hertz 2S², or 2 Sides/2 Sounds, placement flexibility. Install it up-firing for a more direct, defined presentation, or use the included leveling feet for down-firing placement when greater low-frequency extension is desired. This lets the enclosure adapt to different vehicle layouts and listening preferences without rebuilding the system.

Its construction focuses on reducing enclosure-related resonance. The cabinet uses 15 mm wood panels, internal sound-absorbing material, and panel-to-panel bracing with solid corners. These details support the shallow subwoofer by helping the enclosure remain rigid and acoustically controlled in a compact footprint.

Connection options are designed for straightforward integration into a subwoofer system. Hertz SSP, or Sub Smart Plug, provides both a Plug-&-Play terminal block and conventional push terminals for speaker-wire connection. A supplied screw-less mesh grille helps protect the driver, while the adjustable logo orientation supports either installation direction.

Design & Installation

The enclosure uses 15 mm wood construction with internal sound-absorbing material, panel-to-panel bracing, solid corners, and rounded exterior corners. Its loaded shallow subwoofer uses a polypropylene cone, high-density flux ferrite magnet, and 38 mm single voice coil. A robust screw-less mesh grille is included and its logo position can be adjusted for reverse installation.

Mount the enclosure up-firing when a more direct, defined bass character is preferred, or install the supplied leveling feet for down-firing placement. The feet use hook-and-loop inserts for grip on carpeted surfaces while allowing removal. Connect a suitable 2-ohm-stable amplifier through the SSP Plug-&-Play terminal block or the conventional push terminals, observing amplifier and vehicle wiring requirements.
