The Cerwin-Vega CVP2700.5 is a compact five-channel Class D car amplifier designed to power four full-range speakers and a subwoofer from one chassis. It is suited to vehicle audio upgrades where installation space is limited but a single amplifier is needed for a complete speaker-and-subwoofer system. Its five-channel layout helps simplify system planning compared with using separate multi-channel and mono amplifiers.

At 4 ohms, the CVP2700.5 is rated for 80 watts RMS to each of four main channels plus 220 watts RMS to its subwoofer channel. At 2 ohms, it is rated for 130 watts RMS to each main channel and 400 watts RMS to the subwoofer channel. This output structure supports a balanced system with dedicated power for cabin speakers and low-frequency reinforcement.

High-level inputs with 4V to 8V auto turn-on capability support integration with compatible factory or aftermarket radios. Low-level input sensitivity is rated from 250 mV to 6V for RCA-based installations. This flexibility makes the amplifier useful for upgrades that retain an existing source unit while adding amplified speakers and a subwoofer.

The amplifier uses a full MOSFET DC-DC PWM power supply and Class D architecture for compact, efficient power delivery. Its signal controls include adjustable high-pass filtering from 10Hz to 250Hz, adjustable low-pass filtering from 52Hz to 400Hz, and bass boost up to 12dB. These controls allow the installer to divide frequencies between speakers and the subwoofer according to the system design.

Protection circuitry addresses short circuits, low-impedance conditions, reverse polarity, and overheating. A power/protection indicator provides operating-status feedback, and a wired subwoofer level remote is included for convenient bass-level adjustment. With its 9.65-inch-long small chassis, the CVP2700.5 can fit locations where a larger conventional amplifier may be difficult to mount.

Key Features

  • Five-Channel Configuration: Powers four main speakers plus one subwoofer channel from one amplifier.
  • Class D Architecture: Delivers efficient amplification in a compact chassis.
  • High-Level Auto Turn-On: Supports compatible speaker-level signals from 4V to 8V.
  • Adjustable Crossovers: Helps direct appropriate frequencies to speakers and subwoofer.
  • Wired Bass Remote: Allows convenient adjustment of subwoofer output level.
  • Integrated Protection: Helps guard against thermal, short-circuit, polarity, and impedance faults.

Design & Installation

The CVP2700.5 uses a double-sided, two-layer PCB with SMD technology and a full MOSFET DC-DC PWM power supply. Its compact enclosure measures 9.65 by 4.92 by 1.93 inches, allowing placement in many space-conscious vehicle installations. Status LEDs indicate normal operation or a protection condition.

Install the amplifier with secure power, ground, remote-turn-on, signal, and speaker connections, following vehicle-safe wiring practices. Use RCA inputs with an aftermarket radio or the high-level input interface with a compatible factory-radio signal, then set gain and crossover controls for the connected speakers and subwoofer. The included wired subwoofer level remote can be mounted within reach of the driver for on-the-go bass adjustment.
